Walnut Creek, CA – Two serious medical emergencies took place within just five days at the high-volume Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Walnut Creek, California in May 2021. Emergency 911 records obtained by Operation Rescue gave details of the incidents that required two young women to be rushed to area hospitals in ambulances, both operating under a Code 3 priority.
A Code 3 designation indicates a possibly life-threatening condition.
The first abortion-related emergency happened on May 14, 2021, at 2:36 p.m. when a Planned Parenthood employee dialed 911 for a 20-year-old woman who was in serious pain and had moderate bleeding but persistent bleeding after an abortion.
The Planned Parenthood caller was heard on a recording of the 911 call telling the dispatcher, “There’s a patient we did an abortion for who is in – having uncontrolled pain and keeps bleeding,”
The injured woman was transported by ambulance to Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez, California, which is a 17-minute 13-mile drive from the Planned Parenthood facility in Walnut Creek.

The second emergency occurred five days later, on May 21, 2021. The call was placed at 1:03 p.m. by what appeared to be the same Planned Parenthood employee who called 911 on May 14. This time, however, her demeanor was much different.
The 911 call recording showed her speaking rapidly, often correcting herself. There was a palpable sense of urgency to her voice.
The woman who was suffering from abortion complications was just 21 years old. She had been sedated for the abortion procedure, but afterwards, the Planned Parenthood staff could not wake her up.
“We’ve got a patient here for, uh, an in-clinic medic – um, uh, abortion procedure and we had to give – she got Fentanyl and Midazolam and not she’s unresponsive. We’ve given her two doses of Narcan and Imidazenil. She’s still not responsive. Her vitals are stable,” the caller explained.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 80-100 times stronger than morphine. Midazolam, also known as versed, is a common benzodiazepine that is frequently given to people about to undergo minor surgery. Both drugs are known to be in common usage at abortion facilities.
When the young woman would not wake up, Planned Parenthood staff gave her two more drugs meant to counter act the sedatives.
Narcan is commonly used to counteract the effects of opioids such Fentanyl. The second drug mentions, Imidazenil, is an experimental anxiety reducer. It is also able to negate the effects of benzodiazepines such as Versed and Valium.
When asked if the woman was breathing normally, the Planned Parenthood caller described her breathing as “minimal” and “not normal.” The caller seemed rattled by the situation that was unfolding. She first indicated the woman was “pale” and moments later said she was “flushed.”
“Yeah, we have her, uh, legs up,” the caller said.
The caller also noted that there were three “doctors” at the Planned Parenthood facility at the time of the medical emergency, an indication that many abortions were being done that day.
The unconscious woman was transported to the emergency room at John Muir Walnut Creek Medical Center, just 2.2 miles — a seven minute drive — away from the Planned Parenthood facility.

This was not the first overdose at the Walnut Creek Planned Parenthood. On September 25, 2020, an ambulance was called to the abortion facility for a 31-year-old abortion client who was unconscious and not breathing normally. A CAD transcript noted that there was no defibrillator available at the facility, something that seemed to be cause for concern.
“The fact that three doses of counteractive drugs failed to awaken that woman last month at Planned Parenthood seems to imply that this was a serious reaction or possibly an overdose,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “We know of women who have died from being overdosed on sedatives given by abortion clinic workers. We frankly don’t know if that woman is alive or dead today. But we do know that there are obviously competency issues at this Planned Parenthood. Abortion is not as safe as Planned Parenthood says it is, especially when the abortionists are having a bad week.”
Women who have died from sedations overdoses include Laura Hope Smith, 22, who died in 2007 after a drug overdose given her by abortionist Rapin Osathanondh, who was later convicted of manslaughter in her death. He served three months in jail, nine months in home confinement, and three years of probation. He was forced to close his two abortion facilities and relinquish his Massachusetts medical license.
In a well-known 2013 criminal case, Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell was convicted of Involuntary Manslaughter in the death of Karnamaya Mongar, a diminutive immigrant from Bhutan who died in 2009 from a sedation overdose she was given during a late-term abortion.
“We are asking the California Medical Board to investigate these two emergencies and take whatever measures are necessary to protect the public,” said Newman.
