New York, New York – Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) seems to be sinking fast. Even while being located in one of the most radically pro-abortion states in America, PPGNY announced the pending closure of its flagship location, the infamous Manhattan Health Center located at 26 Bleecker Street in New York City.
“When abortion clinics close, babies are saved!” says Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.
Rumbles of implosion started back in 2020. Originally known as the “Margaret Sanger Center,” PPGNY suddenly stripped Sanger’s name from the building after hundreds of Planned Parenthood employees publicly accused PPGNY of ongoing systemic racism in the workplace. At that time, employees also outed PPGNY for “financial mismanagement” by then CEO Laura McQuade.
An open letter from the Planned Parenthood employees states:
Under McQuade and with budgets approved by the Board, the organization has lost the 18 million dollar surplus she inherited and replaced it with a 2020 projected deficit of 6.2 million dollars for the first six months, well before the COVID-19 crisis. It’s not our place to determine if her actions were illegal, but the distribution of highly-paid contracts and consultant opportunities to close contacts challenges the integrity of our CEO and many Chief Officers.
McQuade was dismissed, but just four years later, PPGNY announced the closure of four locations – Goshen, Amsterdam, Cobleskill, and Staten Island – citing “compounding financial and political challenges.”
At the close of 2024, Operation Rescue’s Annual Survey found these four clinics still offering chemical abortions. Since then, however, Planned Parenthood has added a message to each location’s web page indicating there are no new bookings available for any services.
“By the end of 2025, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York – one of the abortion giant’s largest affiliates – will likely have seen five clinics close in less than two years,” comments Newman. “And in a state that absolutely worships abortion! Only God could do something so great. Planned Parenthood is quickly losing its shine in the American eye, and hard-working Americans clearly do not want to fund Big Abortion.”
A New York Times expose published earlier this year confirms the same. Typically a pro-abortion journal, NYT cited everything from massive misuse of funds to untrained staff, injured patients, and terrible working conditions in Planned Parenthood affiliates across the nation.
“Planned Parenthood of Greater New York is clearly a sinking ship,” adds Newman. “Besides a lack of financial integrity reported by its own employees, Operation Rescue has also documented numerous abortion injuries at the Manhattan location. At least one of those women died.
“Maybe instead of blaming inflation, this affiliate should take a long, hard look in the mirror and realize that, in a state wholly devoted to abortion, with massive numbers of pro-abortion voters, it couldn’t even attract enough donations to keep its flagship clinic afloat. Americans don’t want Planned Parenthood.”
