Kansas City, MO — ORW and a group of Kansas City rescuers gathered on August 12 at the posh estate of Jackie Johnson located at 6131 Mission Drive in the exclusive suburb of Mission Hills where a fundraiser was being held for late-term abortionist George Tiller’s Political Action Committee, ProKanDo. ProKanDo’s purpose is to elect pro-abortion candidates and defeat pro-life candidates with the goal of preventing legislation that could close Tiller’s Wichita abortion mill, the largest in the western hemisphere.
Two Truth Trucks were on hand circling the neighborhood with banners emblazoned with graphic images of aborted babies in an effort to convey to party-goers the truth about what their money is going to promote. As police looked on, nearly two dozen picketers stood across the narrow lane from the mansion and pled with Tiller supporters not to give their money to the abortion cause. The rescuers’ please were generally met with scorn and derision.
Fundraiser speakers included Tiller and Alexander Sanger, grandson to Planned Parenthood founder and eugenicist Margaret Sanger. Approximately 50 people attended the event, most in luxury vehicles plastered with bumper stickers supporting pro-abortion presidential candidate John Kerry. Tickets to the event cost $100 per couple or $60 per individual.
Unlike previous ProKanDo events where abortion supporters turned violent, this pro-life outreach concluded without injury to any of the rescuers. Last June one ORW staff member was physically attacked by an angry neighbor during a similar ProKanDo event.
