Washington, D.C. – Today marks the 52nd Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court case that led to the government-sanctioned murder of more than 63 million unborn children. This federally-approved killing was only recently reigned in when the 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson case overturned Roe, and states were finally able to properly enforce protections passed at the state level for the preborn. Currently, 13 states are abortion free and four others restrict abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected.

In response to the overwhelming number of babies killed by abortion, groups of dedicated pro-lifers recently revived the rescue movement of the nineties, risking arrest to hold peaceful sit-ins at certain clinics around the nation.

In a pro-life rescue, a person sacrifices his or her own body between a preborn child and the death that awaits her, remaining peacefully and prayerfully in place until law enforcement succeeds in physically moving the rescuer, usually to be arrested.

“Rescue has always been powerful and peaceful,” President of Operation Rescue Troy Newman said. “And there’s nothing abortion radicals hate more than a peaceful movement that draws attention to the innocent child in the womb.”

This point has been made more than evident by the Biden administration’s response to these rescues. Weaponizing the Department of Justice (DOJ), Biden used the FACE Act, along with the Ku Klux Klan Act, to prosecute citizens who merely sat peacefully in the lobby or doorway of abortion clinics with a maximum sentence of ten years.

“The FACE Act, alone, only has a maximum sentence of one year in prison for first-time offenders,” Newman said. “Biden’s unhinged DOJ added the KKK Act’s ‘Conspiracy against rights’ charge to potentially add up to a decade in prison and equate peaceful pro-lifers to domestic terrorists. But Biden is out the door now, and President Trump has promised to restore balance and justice, especially for those who have been targeted by the DOJ.”

“Our good President has already kept his word concerning January 6th defendants. We now ask him to extend that same compassion and justice to the peaceful citizens currently imprisoned for their pro-life convictions, as well as those still awaiting trial. On this very day, the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we implore President Trump: Pardon the pro-life hostages.”
