Operation Rescue demands that the Medical Board take immediate action to revoke Rutland’s license for probation violations.

San Diego, CA — A television news station has reported on outrage expressed by pro-lifers and the cousin of one of the clinic’s sexual assault victims that accomplices of illegal abortionist Bertha Bugarin received no jail time during their sentencing on criminal abortion charges last month then went on to expose dangers at new abortion clinic.
As reported by Operation Rescue, Luz Catalina-Gomez and Paloma Yonna Solorzano-Rodriguez each received 3 years probation for aiding and abetting the commission of illegal abortions at Bugarin’s Chula Vista, California abortion clinic. The agreement was reached between the defense attorneys and San Diego Superior Court Judge Ted Wethers without the input of the District Attorney’s office in a deal that Operation Rescue President Troy Newman called “fishy.” Bugarin is currently serving 6 years, 8 months in a state prison for her crimes.
Sidewalk Counselor Luis Mendoza, who has worked with Operation Rescue to expose wrong-doing at San Diego area abortion clinics, was particularly upset by the light sentences.
“As a sidewalk counselor for nearly 4 years at the now defunct abortion mill were these women worked I experienced first-hand how evil and coercive they were,” said Mendoza.
He remembers a young Hispanic couple, not more than 14 years of age, that he tried to help. They were lied to by Solorzano-Rodriguez about legal problems at the clinic and were coerced by her into having the abortion.
The news report included an interview with Maria Hart, whose cousin had been fondled and sexually molested during an abortion when she was only 16 years old.
“We kind of just went there and just trusted the doctors that they would treat us correctly, and they didn’t,” said Hart. “And I don’t think it’s right that they’re still walking around, free to go.”
But the report didn’t stop there. After Bugarin’s clinic closed, another abortionist, Andrew Rutland, reopened an abortion clinic in the same location under a new name. Reporter Charisse Yu attempted to interview Rutland, who has an extensive history of discipline with the California Medical Board and is currently on probation and prohibited from practicing without the oversight of another physician.
However, there was no supervising physician on duty with him on the day of the interview.
“This news report shows yet another in a long line of abortionists operating illegally,” said Newman. “We demand that the Medical Board act immediately to revoke his medical license. We also demand that the District Attorney’s look into filing criminal charges against Rutland.”
“Rutland and Bugarin and the rest of their cohorts are not exceptions to the rule, but are what can be expected at our nation’s abortion mills. Jailing these people is the only way to stop them from preying on vulnerable women,” said Newman.
“In the meantime, women must be warned of the dangers of abortion clinics in our nation. They are staffed by shoddy abortionists and unqualified workers who are the bottom of the barrel in the medical world that routinely lie to women about the safety of their operations. Some are sexual predators, as Ms. Hart attested to, who use abortion clinics as a means of accessing victims. Women deserve better than this, and we urge anyone considering abortion to instead contact an abortion alternatives center in their area and get the help they need.”
