Operation Rescue calls for an independent special prosecutor to take over the case
Topeka, KS — Attorney General-Elect Paul Morrison raised eyebrows during a post-election press conference when he left the vague impression that he would continue the investigations into abortion clinic wrong-doing involving hotly disputed medical records even though Morrison attacked incumbent Phill Kline for the investigation throughout the campaign.
“We do not believe Paul Morrison for one minute,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “Why should we? He misrepresented the abortion clinic investigation throughout the entire campaign as an abuse of authority, invasion of privacy, and waste of taxpayer money, when in fact the investigation was about enforcing the law and protecting children. Now he is saying something different. This man has a huge credibility gap right now.”
Morrison told reporters concerning the investigation that, “We will give that the attention that it deserves, and that’s all I can say right now.”
“Morrison’s statement is political double-speak. We already know that he does not think Kline’s investigation into the concealment of child rape and illegal late-term abortions deserves any attention at all,” said Newman, “He has made that point abundantly clear.”
“We call for the appointment an independent special prosecutor who will place the abortion clinic investigation out the reach of Paul Morrison’s ability to derail it,” said Newman. “The victims of these horrific crimes at least deserve that.”
There is documented evidence that one of the abortionists under investigation, George R. Tiller, pumped nearly a million dollars into the Morrison election effort through third-party non-profit organizations that have been traced directly to Tiller. The use of non-profit organizations to influence an election is prohibited by law.
“Did Morrison say anything at all about Tiller’s illegal use of the non-profit corporations? No, Morrison looked the other way, and he will continue look the other way as long as he holds public office. Morrison owes Tiller. Do you really think Morrison will prosecute the man that poured so much money into his election? Politicians have ended up like Jimmy Hoffa for doing less,” Newman said.
“Talk is cheap. We believe actions, not words, and based on Morrison’s track record, he will walk away from this investigation,” said Newman, “I would stake my life on it.”
