Calls and e-mails needed to insure that money is redirected to legitimate health providers

Topeka, KS – Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson has indicated that he will act on the state budget by Friday. The budget contains an amendment that redirects tax money that once went to Planned Parenthood to hospitals and other legitimate health care clinics.
Parkinson has described his abortion views as “very similar, if not completely similar” to former Gov. Kathleen Sebelius’ extremist abortion policies.
The amendment passed both houses of the Legislature after its sponsor Sen. Tim Hueslkamp released an undercover audio recording of a phone call to Planned Parenthood where an illegal sexual relationship between a supposed 14-year old girl and a 23-year old man was ignored. The Planned Parenthood worker even told the girl that her adult boyfriend could pick up her birth control prescription for her. Such policies prey on innocent victims and then hand them back to their abusers with the tools they need to continue concealing the abuse. The recording was supplied by Operation Rescue.
Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri currently receives approximately $275,000 in tax payouts per year from Kansas. Because it has clinics in Missouri, it also qualifies for tax money from that state.
“Planned Parenthood is making a killing double dipping from the taxpayers’ pockets in two states. As a private business, if they cannot stay afloat on their own, we certainly cannot afford to keep bailing them out year after year,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.
“You can bet that Planned Parenthood is going to fight and claw to keep that money. Now is the time for Gov. Parkinson to hear from the majority of taxpayers who do not want their money going to abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood,” said Newman. “This will be his first test on abortion, and we will see if he is responsive to the will of the people, or simply another puppet of the abortion cartel.”
