UPDATE: The vote on Six has been delayed once again for at least another week. This gives us more time to raise additional opposition to this biased nominee.
Washington, D.C. – In a victory for the pro-life cause, Kansas Senators Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran issued statements late last night opposing Pres. Barack Obama’s nomination of former Kansas Attorney General Steve Six to the Federal Appeals Court. A vote is expected today in the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.
Neither senator expressed reasons for their decisions, but the primary opposition to Six’s nomination came from Operation Rescue and other pro-life groups.
“Without the backing of the senators from his own state, Six faces an uphill confirmation battle,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.
“Thankfully, opposition to his nomination continues to build. We have provided documentation to several Senators who have requested information and continue to work with several national pro-life groups to get the word out about Six’s history of allowing his personal and political biases to affect his professional judgment, especially in matters related to abortion.”
In addition, Operation Rescue launched an Internet campaign to activate the grassroots, aired radio spots and produced a 1-minute video commentary on Youtube.com showing Six’s abortion biases. OR was among the first to expose inconsistencies and misrepresentations in Six’s written answers to the Judiciary Committee questionnaire.
The Judiciary Committee is currently dominated by pro-abortion Democrats. If the Six nomination passes out of committee today, the entire Senate will then vote on confirmation.
Operation Rescue urges the public to contact their senators and voice opposition to the nomination of Steve Six to the Federal Appeals Court due to his history of partiality and bias.
