San Francisco, CA – Golden Gate Community Health, formerly Planned Parenthood Golden Gate, has announced that it is going out of business and folding all of its five abortion clinics.
Planned Parenthood revoked the groups affiliation after financial scandals surfaced. The clinics then reformed as an independent organization, but financial problems dogged the groups amid continued allegations of financial mismanagement.
On March 1, 2011, GGCH issued a press release announcing the closing. It had operated clinics in San Francisco (one of the oldest abortion mills in California), San Rafael, San Mateo, and two mill is Oakland. These abortion clinics were the sites of frequent pro-life protests and often sued pro-lifers for exercising their First Amendment Rights.
“After decades of taking the lives of innocent babies and persecuting those who attempted to save them, we are gratified that these five former Planned Parenthood abortion mills are finally closed for good,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “These closings follow a national trend of decreasing numbers of surgical abortion mills in this nation. With these closures, the number of remaining abortion clinics is now down to 684, down from nearly 2,200 in 1991. The pro-life movement is winning the hearts and minds of America, and with that change in public opinion comes a decrease in demand for abortions. The closure of these abortion clinics is a victory and we are happy to celebrate it.”
