Eerily similar to Kermit Gosnell Murder Case
Pro-life organizations and congressmen across the country are demanding Cesare Santangelo be held accountable for actions eerily similar to those of convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell, now serving a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole for first degree murder of three babies.
In August 2022, pro-lifers secured the remains of 115 babies that had been killed at Santangelo’s Washington Surgi-Clinic. At least five of those babies, now known as the “D.C. Five,” appeared to have been nearly full-term when they were killed.
All five babies are believed to have been murdered after being delivered alive, or killed by partial-birth abortion – a method that was banned in 2003. With this horrendous form of murder, the baby is pulled out feet first with forceps, stopping just short of delivering the baby’s head.
Then the abortionist forces scissors into the vaginal canal and into the base of the baby’s skull. The abortionist collapses the baby’s head by suctioning out his or her brains through the wound left by the scissors. Then the abortionist pulls out the limp body of the dead baby and disposes of him or her in a medical waste container.
Sometimes well-meaning people simply cannot conceive of this degree of depravity without seeing it with their own eyes. These images have to be shown.
That is why Mamie Elizabeth Till-Mobley insisted on an open-casket funeral for her 14-year-old son who was brutally murdered in August 1955. He had been so mercilessly tortured and murdered that his body was unrecognizable.
She wanted the world to see the racially motivated, barbaric, criminal acts committed against her beloved child. The civil rights movement was galvanized as a result of her determination.
“The conscience of the American public is soothed and seared with euphemisms that conceal the truth,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “Terms like ‘pregnancy termination,’ ‘abortion care,’ ‘essential health care,’ and ‘reproductive freedom’ are all outrageous lies that suppress the reality that innocent children created in the image of God are being brutally murdered, starved to death, torn limb from limb, their heads crushed, their spinal cords severed, their hearts injected with poison. The forms of cruelty have no end.
“Photographs of these five murdered children show us what the current administration condones, so much that our federal officials would rather destroy the evidence than conduct autopsies that would hold the person who committed these atrocities accountable. Cesare Santangelo has already admitted on video during an undercover investigation by Live Action that he would not help a child born alive in a failed abortion attempt.”
President Trump was right when he exposed the left’s extreme position on abortion during his final debate with Hillary Clinton on October 19, 2016.
“If you go with what Hillary is saying, in the ninth month you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby. Now, you can say that that’s okay, and Hillary can say that that’s okay, but it’s not okay with me. … That’s not acceptable.”
“And that should not be ok with the American people!” said Newman. “We are better than this!”

In more recent news, this week Mary Szoch, Director of the Center for Human Dignity at Family Research Council, provided testimony of a woman she helped flee Santangelo’s cruelty in 2020, after he had initiated her late-term abortion at the D.C. facility.
In the District of Columbia, abortion is legal up to birth. However, the child must be killed before delivery. Typically, the abortionist kills the baby by pushing a long needle through the mother’s abdomen and injecting a feticide called digoxin directly into the child’s beating heart. Labor is then initiated with laminaria (seaweed sticks inserted into the cervix), and she delivers her dead baby days later.
After Santangelo had inserted an excessive number of laminaria into her cervix to initiate contractions, causing “catastrophic” damage, she began to deeply regret her decision. In severe pain, she went to a hospital for help.
Her baby was not dead. He was alive. He was delivered weighing two pounds, three ounces. And, today, he is four years old.
It became obvious that digoxin had not been injected into his heart to kill him in advance of his delivery. Santangelo clearly had another method planned for murdering her precious little baby boy. Convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell also spared the expense and trouble of administering digoxin when performing late-term abortions, preferring to murder the children outside the womb – in plain view.
Gosnell was originally charged with 395 criminal counts and was finally convicted on May 13, 2013, of the first degree murder of three babies born alive. He avoided the death penalty only because he agreed to refrain from appealing the convictions.
Just as the remains of some of Santangelo’s victims have been preserved, the bodies of 47 babies found in Gosnell’s killing center were held in the coroner’s office for months before being cremated and then buried in a Philadelphia cemetery mass grave in 2013.

The bodies of these five children were scheduled to be disposed of by the Washington, D.C., Medical Examiner’s Office at the request of the Biden Administration. However, a judge intervened on February 9, and the bodies were spared from being destroyed – for now.
Operation Rescue stands with countless other pro-life, conservative organizations demanding the U.S. House of Representatives and the United States Senate call on the Department of Justice and City of Washington, D.C. to conduct a full investigation into the deaths of these precious children.
Physicians who specialize in obstetrics and gynecology have studied the photographs and concluded a high likelihood that both the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban and the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act were violated.
