Babies Died, Adults Delivered from Spiritual Death
Chicago, IL — During the Democratic National Convention (DNC) last week in Chicago, Planned Parenthood parked a “mobile clinic” just a few blocks from the United Center, where the event was hosted, and scheduled appointments for free abortions. Up to 25 babies were reportedly murdered using chemical abortion drugs during the first two days of the convention. The clinic also offered appointments to sterilize men free of charge.
Dubbed by some as a “mobile death camp,” the van was manned by Colleen McNicholas, an abortionist Operation Rescue has been tracking for years. The unit was stationed next to a taco truck and a booth operated by the Chicago Abortion Fund.
Meanwhile, a group with a street ministry known as Chicago for Jesus (CFJ) brought the hope of Jesus Christ to DNC attendees as they walked toward the building. Many of those sharing the gospel at the DNC participate regularly in outreaches at nearby abortion facilities – offering hope through Jesus, as well as material and emotional support.
“We believe that the message of Christ and its beauty actually shines greatest in the darkness,” said Juan Riesco, one of the street preachers. “So, we’re going to go…to preach the gospel and make disciples of those lost and dying… .”
Operation Rescue spoke to Joe Wyrostek, pastor of Metro Praise International, the CFJ’s founding church. Believers who participate in the outreach work to save babies by worshiping and praying in front of abortion clinics and offering to help abortion-vulnerable mothers through adoption and other resources.
When asked what the street preachers were seeing in response to their outreach at the DNC, Wyrostek spoke of individuals obviously living in blatant sexual sin and confusion being set free. “We went out there and preached, stood in the face of opposition, people mocked us, people got saved, people mocked us, more people got saved. We saw deliverance, people falling out to their knees and calling out to Jesus.”
“It is certainly true that God’s light shines brightest in the darkest places,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “I cannot think of a darker place than these death camps all over the country, where men and women rip innocent babies apart, limb from limb, or administer chemicals that cruelly starve them to death while they are growing in their mother’s womb, and then sell their organs for profit – all in the name of healthcare.”
“The Democrat party has undoubtedly become the party of death, supporting child killing in its most extreme forms – along with every other kind of social ill. Our votes in November simply cannot support this great evil. “Operation Rescue will continue to follow the instruction found in Ephesians 5:11: ‘Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.’ We know that when sin is exposed and confessed, God is faithful to forgive and purify.
“We celebrate the souls saved at the DNC, acknowledging the good news that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace. We also mourn the death of as many as 25 babies; and we pray that the hearts of this nation turn, and turn soon, to the realization that abortion is murder.”
