Granite City, Illinois — Medical emergencies and botched abortions have picked up again at the notorious abortion mill, Hope Clinic for Women, better known as “Hopeless” Clinic. “Hopeless” practically streamlines women to the emergency room and 2025 is proving no different. Earlier this month, a 29-year-old woman required emergency transport to Barnes Jewish Hospital located in the neighboring state of Missouri.
On February 11, 2025, pro-lifers and prayer warriors on the sidewalk witnessed an ambulance arriving at “Hopeless” around 11 a.m. Records of the 911 call obtained by Operation Rescue reveal a scanty, thirty second call, during which the abortion clinic staffer requests “emergency transport” for a patient without providing (or being asked to provide) any other details.
No Questions Asked?
Operation Rescue has documented a plethora of alarming 911 calls made from this clinic wherein 911 dispatchers do not even bother to ask the necessary medical questions that ensure a patient in need of emergency care is attended to properly.
“We request dozens of 911 calls every year,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “Across the country, 911 dispatchers typically have a protocol established with questions that ensure emergency responders have vital, life-saving information about the patient’s condition before the ambulance arrives. But these dispatchers act as if they were representing a cab company, or Uber service. They don’t ask vital questions regarding her medical condition: Is the patient bleeding? Is she awake or conscious? Is she responsive? This is either total negligence or a willful attempt to cover up the dangers of the abortion industry.”
Operation Rescue has documented this dangerous trend elsewhere, thought the level of recurrence at this abortion mill is astounding.
We have seen everything from absurd cover ups to coded language between 911 dispatch and clinic staff,” said Newman. “All in order to avoid accountability. The abortion cartel knows 911 records are public, and they also know groups like Operation Rescue will do all we can to legally hold clinics accountable for the horrific injuries they inflict on women.”
Though abortion profiteers know they are being observed closely and scrutinized, this progressive cooperation from 911 dispatchers — a public service that should be neutral and work for the benefit of the patient — is nothing short of scandalous.
“We will continue researching this apparent collaboration and bring out the truth,” added Newman.
Last year, in Orange, California, Operation Rescue obtained 911 recordings of a Planned Parenthood worker who also tried to treat 911 like a pick-up service, refusing to provide patient information or details. Thankfully for the patient, a courageous dispatcher was on the line who continued her duty even when the abortion clinic manager got on the line and tried to gaslight the dispatcher into thinking she was somehow asking an inordinate amount of questions..
Avoiding Other Safety Measures
In addition to evading 911 protocols, ”Hopeless” Clinic has also tried to ignore safety standards established by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Back in 2023, Erin King, who was the “medical director” of this mill sent a request to the state asking to bypass standards like:
- Abortionists maintaining hospital privileges at a licensed Illinois hospital.
- Abortions only being performed by a licensed physician.
- Requiring ‘tissues’ (what they call baby parts) to be examined by a pathologist in order to confirm a completed abortion.
This growing list of infractions and abortion injuries earned “Hopeless” Clinic the title “Worst of the Worst” by Operation Rescue in 2023. Since that year, Operation Rescue has reported at least 18 emergencies from “Hopeless”.
“Although corruption abounds, pro-lifers should continue to make every effort to keep this place accountable,” Newman said. “Any pro-lifers who observe unusual activity at this clinic should take photos or video. Then please let Operation Rescue know so we can follow up with the appropriate agencies!”.
